Lexus ES 300h Hybrid Battery Replacement UK

The ES 300h was the first ES that Lexus sold to British buyers, and it sells on comfort rather than speed. Most of that comfort runs through the hybrid battery. As the pack loses capacity, the petrol engine has to fill the gap, and a quiet pull away from a junction turns into engine noise.

Greentec Auto UK supplies and fits hybrid batteries for the Lexus ES 300h, covering UK cars registered between 2019 and 2025. Before anything is ordered we look up your car, match it to the right pack, and tell you plainly what we think it needs.

Lexus ES 300h Battery Replacement: 2019 to 2025

Britain only ever got one version of this generation, the ES 300h hybrid saloon. There was no petrol-only ES here and no plug-in, so any ES on a UK plate is a 300h. Registration years in this category:

  • 2019 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2020 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2021 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2022 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2023 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2024 Lexus ES 300h
  • 2025 Lexus ES 300h

Trim grades sold here were ES, Premium Edition, F Sport and Takumi. The F Sport rides on different suspension and the Takumi carries more equipment, but the hybrid pack underneath is shared across the range. Lexus updated the car for the 2022 model year, so later examples differ from launch cars in places.

Registration year is a starting point, not proof of fit. We read the vehicle record first. See the 2019-2025 Lexus ES 300h battery replacement listing, then call with your registration to hand.

Lexus ES 300h Hybrid System at a Glance

Item Detail
Battery type Nickel-metal hydride
Pack voltage Around 245 volts
Position in car Under the rear seats
Petrol engine 2.5 litre four-cylinder, Atkinson cycle
Electric motor About 118 bhp
Combined output Around 215 bhp
Gearbox e-CVT automatic, front-wheel drive
Official economy Roughly 50 to 54 mpg, WLTP combined
Charging Self-charging, no plug or cable

Lexus put the pack under the rear seats on this generation instead of in the boot. Two things came from that. Luggage room went up, and weight moved further forward, which helps the car settle on a motorway. It also means a technician reaches the battery from inside the cabin.

One caution. This model line did not use the same battery chemistry in every market across all seven years. We check the pack against your individual car rather than assuming from the year on the logbook.

Signs Your ES 300h May Need a New Hybrid Battery

Capacity falls away slowly, so the first clues are usually feel and fuel rather than a light on the dash.

What you notice What it can also point to
Fuel economy well down on normal Tyres, driving pattern, cold weather
Engine running more of the time A blocked or failing battery cooling fan
Weak electric help when pulling away A fault elsewhere in the hybrid system
Charge gauge swinging up and down quickly A sensor or software issue
Braking feels less consistent when slowing The brake system rather than the battery
Warning messages on the driver display Any number of hybrid components

The right-hand column is the point. Plenty of ES cars arrive with battery symptoms and a different cause behind them. We test before we recommend anything, and we say so when the pack turns out to be fine.

Getting the Right Pack for an ES 300h

The battery works as part of a managed system. Its condition is monitored constantly, and the car decides how hard the engine and motors work based on what the pack can deliver. Fit a unit the car cannot manage properly and you get poor running or fresh faults instead of a fixed car.

We test a replacement before it goes in, so its condition is known rather than assumed. High-voltage work also needs correct isolation, the right equipment and people who do it regularly, which is why this is not general garage work. Once the new pack is fitted, the car goes out for a check drive before it is handed back.

Cover is set out in our battery warranty policy, and the terms that apply to your car are confirmed against the pack you go with.

What Lexus Covers on the Original Battery

Stage What Lexus UK provides
With qualifying servicing Hybrid battery cover up to 10 years or 100,000 miles
After that point Cover extended a year at a time with an annual Hybrid Health Check
Upper limit Until the car is 15 years old

Lexus does not publish a figure for how long the pack itself lasts. It says life depends on use, driving style and upkeep. Because UK ES cars only start at 2019, most are still on their first battery, and the ones reaching us tend to be high-mileage company cars. Our guide to hybrid battery warranties in the UK goes through how manufacturer cover works in practice.

Working With Greentec Auto UK

Hybrid and EV packs are all we do. That narrow focus is the reason ES owners travel to us rather than to a general workshop.

  • We read the vehicle record and confirm the pack before ordering
  • Replacement batteries are tested, not simply fitted
  • High-voltage work is handled with proper isolation and equipment
  • Fitting is done at our own Manchester workshop
  • The pack that comes out goes through a controlled recycling route

More on how the business runs is on our About Us page, and battery recycling explains where the old pack ends up.

Where We Work From

Everything is carried out at our workshop in Trafford Park, Manchester. ES enquiries reach us from drivers in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Liverpool.

Details for visitors are on the Manchester page, and the service areas page shows the wider coverage. Ring ahead so we can look up the car and check availability before you set off.

Useful to have ready: registration number, year of registration, rough mileage, and what the car has started doing differently. If a warning message has appeared, note when it tends to show up.

Ben and George are absolutely amazing! I came in after learning my Toyota Hybrid battery needed replacing. They took me through the work that needed doing, took photos of the process and repaired my hybrid battery. Since having the work done, my car drives smoothly and I feel confident driving it again! If you’re looking for a hybrid battery replacement in and around Manchester, this is your place.

I am one of Greentec earliest customers in Manchester. They replaced my Tesla model 3 performance battery. The full range is back to 303 miles. Ben kept in close contact during the process. The car runs perfectly. Highly professional, very skilled and significantly lower cost the Tesla. I highly recommend their services

Meeting Ben and George was a great experience, both incredibly friendly, enthusiastic and clearly knew their stuff – Took me through the whole process and were greatly accommodating as well. Picking the car up was an equally great experience, showed me top to bottom how they’d diagnosed the issue, what they’d found (some components may as well have been charcoal they were that corroded), how they fixed it and included pictures of the whole process. Thanks again guys, great stuff.

Their technical knowledge of Tesla vehicles was very reassuring, and it was clear they knew exactly what they were doing. The cost was also very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the work and the level of expertise involved. Everything was handled efficiently and professionally, and the car was back on the road quickly. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the service I received and wouldn’t hesitate to use Greentech Auto again in the future. Highly recommended for anyone needing reliable and knowledgeable EV service.

A massive thanks to Ben and George We came to you after our bmw x5 showed problems with the charging system BMW at Sheffield wanted to charge us 5k for the repair to the battery safety box. We also tried two independents at Sheffield neither were interested in diagnosing the problem. Ben and his team came way under the quoted price from bmw and talked me through what was needed, kept me informed of every step of the repair We now have a car that is in fully working order. I would highly recommend anyone with a problem with a EV to try greentec Very happy customer

Frequently Asked Questions

A Toyota hybrid battery replacement may cost between $1,500 and $4,000 depending on the vehicle model, battery type, and if you purchase an authentic new battery or remanufactured battery. Toyota Prius as well as other Toyota hybrids like Camry Hybrid or Highlander Hybrid will be priced differently. Otherwise, replacing your battery with an official hybrid battery replacement service provider like Greentec Auto will be more affordable as well as prolong your vehicle’s lifespan. Be certain to compare the price as well as warranty coverage of your chosen battery replacement option.
A Toyota hybrid battery can last between 8 to 10 years or 100,000 to 150,000 miles, depending on the driving conditions, maintenance history, and climate. Some Toyota hybrid owners have even reported longer battery lifespan with proper maintenance. Taking good care of it, such as regular maintenance checks, and not exposing it to extreme temperatures, can prolong the life of your hybrid battery. Knowing the average Toyota hybrid battery lifespan gives you a basis for planning for future maintenance costs.
Most Toyota hybrid batteries only need to be replaced once in the vehicle’s lifetime, typically after 8 to 10 years or 100,000 to 150,000 miles. If your hybrid shows signs like reduced fuel economy, battery warning lights, or slower acceleration, it may be time to consider a replacement. Staying ahead of hybrid battery failure ensures your Toyota Hybrid continues to perform efficiently and reliably.
